Personal Technology Devices at School including Apple Watches

Students must follow classroom procedures for storage of electronic devices developed by classroom teachers/grade levels.  

  • Students shall have all electronic devices (including Smartwatches) turned off at all times except as approved by school personnel.  
  • Students will follow the rules established by their classroom teacher as to the use of any electronic devices in class.  
  • Students are not allowed to use their cell phone/Smartwatch during school hours, including when they are dropped off, at recess, and at lunch, unless approved by school personnel.
  • Electronic devices should not be brought on to the play yard at recess and lunch.  
  • If a student’s electronic item (including cell phone/Smartwatch) disrupts the classroom, instructional process or a school activities, the device shall be confiscated by a certificated or classified staff member and be given to an administrator who will return it to the student at the end of the day.  
  • A second infraction shall result in the device being confiscated and the parent/guardian will be required to meet with the Principal or the principal’s designee in order to retrieve the device.  
  • A third infraction shall result in disciplinary action with the consent to possess all electronic devices being revoked until the end of the trimester.
How do I get my child’s teacher assignment?
Parents of TK/Kinder students will receive class assignments after the TK/Kinder Back to School Night presentation which is on August 19th @ 5:00 in our MPR.  ALL grades will be able to view teacher assignments in Aeries under “demographics” on August 20th, after 5 pm. *please note our system is NOT accurate until 5pm.
On a laptop:
  • Click on “Student Info”
  • Click on “Demographics
  • Scroll down to “Next Tchr” (On 5/20, at or after 5pm, the correct teacher will be listed)
  • (You can also view on the phone app)
On Tuesday, August 20th, TK and K students only can meet their teachers and bring their school supplies from 2:00-2:30 p.m.
Back to School Night will be IN PERSON for all grades.
  • TK/Kinder: Monday, August 19th from 5:00-6:00 in the MPR 
  • Grades 1-5: Thursday, September 5th from 5:00-6:30 for grades 1-5. More information to come!
Will I be able to walk my child in for the first day of school?
Yes! On the first day of school only, grownups may walk their students to their classroom door. CLICK HERE for the bell schedule. (A school map will be sent to you prior to the first day of school)
What time can I drop off my student in the morning?
Drop off begins at 7:45 a.m. Final bell rings at 8:00 a.m
What will the traffic/ drop off line look like?
Similar to last year, we will have one carline with two drop-off locations for those utilizing our carline. 
  • Grades 2-5: Starting at 7:40, parent volunteers and staff members will assist students exiting their cars in the carpool line and they will enter campus through our upper playground gate on Liberty Bell Road.
  • TK/Kinder, 1st, and older siblings): Starting at 7:40, parent volunteers and staff members will assist students exiting their cars in the carpool line and they will enter campus using the sidewalk walkway adjacent to our middle campus parking lot
  • TK-1: Park and Walk Option
      • TK/K: You have the option of utilizing our carpool line or you may park and walk your student to the black gate. Older siblings may join their TK/K sibling and then use the ramps/stairs to go to their destination.
      • 1st grade: You have the option of utilizing our carpool line or you may park and walk your student to the lower campus playground gate (The Boys and Girls Club gate). Older siblings may join their 1st grade siblings and then use the ramps/stairs to go to their destination.
Left turns or U-turns are never allowed and are not safe. Also, J-walking near our school is NOT safe nor allowed. Please walk with your student to a nearby crossing guard to safely cross the street. Staff will be available to assist and direct students.
When will my student be considered late/tardy?

Beginning August 26th, students will be tardy after the final bell rings (8:00am). At that time, they must proceed to the office where they will be given a tardy pass. **Extra time will be allowed during the first week of school to ensure all students find their classrooms in a timely manner.

Where do parents pick up at dismissal?
TK/Kinder and 1st grade will be dismissed at the lower gate on Liberty Bell (near the Boys and Girls Club sign) at their designated pick up times. On Wednesdays only, TK students will be picked up at the middle campus black gate.
Grades 2-5 will be dismissed at the upper yard/gate. Parents need to park legally (not in front of our neighbor’s driveway, mailboxes, or trash cans) to walk to the designated gate. Thank you!

Does my student bring their school supplies to school?

YES. Please bring all school supplies to school the first week and give them to your teacher. TK/K may bring their school supplies to the TK/K Meet and Greet My Teacher event on 8/20 (2:00-2:30). No need to label supplies as they are communal.

Does my child need to sign up for the Boys and Girls Club or the Boys and Girls Club enrichments?

Yes, the Boys and Girls Club is a separate organization that offers after school care and enrichment classes for Chaparral students at a fee. Please visit their website or reach out to them directly for all club options (818) 224-3097.

Musical theater enrichment

Musical theater is not part of the Boys and Girls Club enrichment programs. Visit our Class Act Musical Theater to learn more about our musical theater enrichment opportunities that your student(s) can join at a fee.

When is the Running Cubs Club?
Running Cubs will take place on Friday mornings (7:30am-8:00am). The start date for both is TBD- stay tuned for updates! 
How can I pay for Donor Drive?
Please visit Parent Square for all donations and purchases- Donor Drive, Community Cards and Disaster Prep.
Data Confirmation and Parent Square

At the start of each new school year, ALL families (new and returning) are required to verify and update all student information in Aeries.  If you are new to Chaparral, you will need to create an Aeries Parent account and join ParentSquare.  Both of these are important methods of communication to ensure that you do not miss any communications from Chaparral, PFC or the District.

  • We recommend completing this process on a Desktop or Laptop computer.

How does Chaparral communicate with families?
We use Parent Square! You can select text messages, emails or messages through the app!  Parent Square pulls information from parent contacts in Aeries. 
    • Log into Aeries 
    • Click Student Info
    • Click Contacts 
    • Under Notification Preferences, please make sure to click #1 “General and Emergency Announcements” in order to receive notifications through Parent Square.
Will parents be able to volunteer on campus?
Yes. Parents will be able to volunteer once they provide proof of a TB Assessment and sign a confidentiality agreement. Stay tuned for exciting opportunities!
